Hello and welcome

I’m Delcia McNeil and I have a wide interest in psychotherapy, healing, complementary therapies, spirituality, and the arts.

I’m a registered Psychotherapist (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and a registered Healer (Association for Therapeutic Healers), and have been working in this field since the early 1980s.  Before that time I worked in Brighton, Liverpool and the East End of London as a social worker.

I grew up in Brighton, Sussex, trained in social work in Croydon (CQSW), then worked in the Liverpool area, before moving to London.  I lived in London from 1975 -1996 and then moved to the Lake District.  However, since 1996 I have continued to work in London for one week a month.

I began my own therapeutic journey in the late 1970s following a mental breakdown – at that time in my life I had an eating disorder (bulimia nervosa), clinical depression, and suffered regular night terrors.  I began psychotherapy at St. Barts Hospital in London in 1977.

I chose to move away from social work and began a Social Sciences degree. However, in 1979 I had an accident and fractured spine (my sacrum). The experience of severe back pain led me into the world of healing and complementary therapies and, after completing my degree, I trained in Spiritual Healing with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers, and Swedish & Holistic Massage (ITEC standard). I also did taster courses in many other therapies, including reflexology, acupressure, and others.

I continued to receive psychotherapy in London (eg. at the Women’s Therapy Centre, and then The Open Centre) and in 1985 went to Spectrum, a Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy Centre in North London.  In 1988 I began training there in  Psychotherapy, graduating in 1994. I continue to be connected to Spectrum for professional development and I have regular one to one supervision in South Lakeland, Cumbria for all my therapeutic work.

I see myself as a pioneer and love to work at the interface of psychotherapy, energy healing, channelling and creativity.   I’m a natural teacher with many years experience of facilitating both educational and therapy groups.  I ran the first ever Spiritual Healing classes in Adult Education in Inner London from 1983-1988 and also during that time taught Holistic Massage in Adult Education as well as privately (to ITEC standard).

From 1992 to 2003 I founded and co-directed The Rowan School for Healing & Personal Development with my colleague Kate Williams-MacKenzie, and we trained healers to a high professional standard.

In 1998 I was commissioned by The Women’s Press to write a book about bodywork therapies.  ‘Bodywork Therapies for Women’, was published in the year 2000, together with a CD entitled ‘Opening to Self Healing.’  (See more about this at

I have developed an in-depth knowledge of Chakra Psychology and since 2007 have run a professional development course on this topic. I have also developed specific Chakra Psychology themed workshops, e.g. Money & the Chakras. (You can see more about this work at

In London I run a monthly professional consultative and support group for healers and bodywork therapists (I began this group in 1989).  I also do one to one supervision, professional support & mentoring (face to face, by phone or Skype).

I have a private practice in North London and South Lakeland, Cumbria, both in mainstream Counselling/ Psychotherapy and also in a modality I have developed called Dynamic Healing – a deeply effective therapy in which I combine subtle energy healing with psychotherapeutic process.

Most relevant  for our Consciousness Travels site is to let you know that I am a Verbal Channel, and that I work with a high level of consciousness in a therapeutic way with individuals and groups.  I call this consciousness Ortundra.   I often combine this work with counselling, and I run Open to Channelling and Channelling Development workshops.  I learned formally about Channelling in the early 1990s with Lita de Alberdi at the School of the Living Light, although I had been channelling by myself for many years before that.

For several years I ran channelling groups in which I channelled on a specific topic.  These topics were recorded, transcribed and edited.  They have been made into an e-book called The A-Z of Channelled Wisdom & Guidance and several will be posted here as blogs.

And finally! – I am an exhibiting Artist – my paintings are based on metaphysical themes, such as healing, communication, other dimensions, relationships, emotions, and the unconsciousness mind.  I took time out in 2003-4 to do a full-time Foundation Art Course (BTEC) in Kendal, Cumbria.  Occasionally, I run Paint Your Art Out workshops – combining healing, creative visualisation, meditation and artwork.  Many of the images on this site are my own original artwork.

Phew!  As you can probably tell I’ve been able to do all this because I chose not to have children.  I always wanted to be a ‘mother out in the world’.  I live happily with my second husband, Russell (he’s a Homeopath who runs our practise rooms in Muswell Hill,North London –  We have been together for 24 years.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the information that Kris and I are excited to share with you here at Consciousness Travels.
